I'm off! Off to another week of shooting in California. I'll be photographing a couple wedding days, a portrait session and a styled shoot in wine country! I love to travel, meet new people and photograph new things... but I'll always miss my rainy, Syracuse hometown and all of the people in it that I love...
My last trip out to California to photograph weddings has come to an end... Safely back in New York to photograph the wedding of a very dear friend of mine! In about a week I'll be boarding a flight back out to the San Francisco area to photograph a couple multicultural wedding celebrations and a styled shoot in Sonoma! Needless to say... I'm looking forward to photographing out on the West Coast again soon!
On my last flight back to Syracuse, I took a few photos of the city and airport lights from my plane window. I photographed them in such a way that they'd simply become out of focus, colorful little dots. I find them so beautiful!
I jotted down a little free verse poem that was inspired within me as I marveled at the magnificence of the twinkling lights......
Seen from the sky
Sleepy eyes have closed
Another day has gone
Galaxies of city lights and sparkling stars
Sprawled out carefully
Within nearly infinite darkness
The magnitude and wonder
Overwhelms the understanding within me
Fast asleep, stresses have melted, books read, babies fed
Another morning dawns in the blink of an eye
Galaxies of beautiful souls
Galaxies of beautiful stars
We're but twinkles in an endless night sky
For over a hundred years, San Francisco has held an event called 'Bay to Breakers'. It's a footrace from the 'Bay' side to the 'Breakers' (Pacific Ocean side). The whole area becomes a loud, crazy, dress up party. I woke up yesterday to a very loud party outside- and stepped out to see three body painted, nearly naked men with mohawk wigs. Walking the streets, I saw just about every costume you could imagine. Unicorn. Penguins (LOTS of Penguins). A pirate playing a trumpet. Super man. Power Rangers. Disco Divas. English Gents. Dinosaurs... The list goes on. It was quite something to experience! I managed to snap just one quick photo of Gumby hanging out with his pals on a bench....
I've had such a packed weekend of photographing! I met so many great new people, beautiful brides-handsome grooms, saw new places, experienced new things.... It has been a great weekend to say the least. After the wedding on Friday in the Japanese Gardens, I photographed in Half Moon Bay. What a beautiful area! Here are a few iPhone photos I snapped during my adventure to Half Moon Bay!
It's been a busy weekend of shooting, meeting new people and experiencing new places! I've loved every minute of it! On Friday, I drove down to a wedding venue right outside of San Jose... It was a gorgeous place! Here are a few photos of the Japenese Gardens where the bride and groom celebrated their wedding day!
I walked all around the city today. Alamo Square, Chinatown... and everywhere in between. It was lovely! Being able to take photos to satisfy my creative hunger, is really a wonderful and freeing thing. Here are some moments from my wonderings today...
Some moments that yelled loudly 'photograph me'... and I so obliged.
Once my flight landed yesterday, I dropped off my luggage and went adventuring all over. There's nothing like the excitement of walking all over streets that you've never experienced before. Good music in my headphones, California sun on my face and old street shoes to carry me. Here are some of the photos I took during my adventures yesterday...
Excited to see new people, places and things today!
I will be traveling from coast to coast often to photograph weddings this year and will be loving every minute of it! I thought a neat way to document my travels and share personal photos with my clients, friends and family- would be to create a travel blog. So here we are! I'll be posting photos daily throughout my traveling- they'll be moments that I find visually interesting, funny, beautiful, ironic, peaceful... simply- any moment that speaks to me.
I am heading to San Francisco today, I'll be working with a few other photographers while I'm there during this trip- photographing three weddings and an engagement session. The venues are gorgeous and I can't wait to photograph the wedding days! My camera bag is packed- and my creativity and wonderlust are bursting within me.
Here are a few photos to get this new blog rolling!
I'll be sharing photos and moments whenever they occur... So stay tuned for more adventure!
